On each day of the OSCE assessment all candidates must bring:
- Either a print out or an electronic copy of their Joining Instructions email from Kaplan (required only in case of any queries)
- One or more of the following forms of photographic identification:
- Passport
- EU identity card
NB To meet our security criteria, please ensure that your photographic identification contains a Machine Readable Zone or MRZ number. An example of what this number looks like is given below.
The document/s provided must be original, current and bear the candidate’s photograph. Certified copies will not be accepted.
If the name under which a candidate has registered for the assessment (and in which the Joining Instructions email has been sent) is different in any way from the photographic ID they bring along on the day of the assessment, they are also required to bring original evidence that they are the person named in the Joining Instructions email. Candidates may do this by producing one of the following supplementary documents:
- Marriage certificate
- A declaration from the awarding body which granted their primary legal qualification stating that both names relate to them
- Birth certificate
- Legal change of name document
Upon arrival at the assessment centre, candidates must:
- Deposit all personal possessions in the facilities provided (including phones and watches)
- Go through ID and Security checks (a separate room for these checks will be provided if requested by the candidate)
- Allow Kaplan QLTS staff to carry out a visual inspection of their eyewear during the ID and Security checks.
Entry on subsequent occasions to any OSCE assessment
The ID and Security checks are repeated by Kaplan staff when a candidate enters any part of an OSCE assessment on a subsequent occasion.
Unsatisfactory evidence of identity
If Kaplan staff are in any doubt about either the identity of the candidate or the authenticity of any documents provided by the candidate, the following procedures take place:
- A photograph of the candidate or document (as the case may be) is taken, on which the candidate is asked to print their full name and the date and write their signature. The photograph is kept on the candidate’s file. If the candidate refuses to do this, they cannot undertake the assessment
- Other than where there is such a refusal, the candidate is informed that they may sit the assessment but that they are required to return to the registration desk following the assessment to try to resolve the query
- If there are further documents for the candidate to produce they are required to bring the correct documents to the Head of QLTS (or their nominee) personally within 30 days of the assessment. In the event of failure to carry out this instruction, the issue may be referred to the SRA.
- In the event that any query remains unresolved the matter may be referred to the SRA for a decision as to whether the identification requirements have been satisfied. If they are found not to have been satisfied the assessment attempt will count as a fail
Where there are any such unresolved issues relating to evidence of a candidate's identity a candidate will not be permitted to sit any further OSCE assessments.
