Eligibility & Booking

Before booking any element of the QLTS, candidates must first check their eligibility.

  • Eligibility and Exemptions

Candidates wishing to sit any element of the QLTS should first ensure that they have read the information on the Solicitors Regulation Authority website in respect of recognised jurisdictions, character and suitability.

Candidates wishing to apply for exemption from any part of the QLTS assessments must contact the SRA.  Where a candidate has obtained any exemption from the SRA, evidence of that exemption must be provided at the time of booking any QLTS assessment.

Any queries about jurisdiction, character and suitability, and exemptions should be directed to:

The Solicitors Regulation Authority Information Services
    The Cube
    199 Wharfside Street
    Birmingham
    B1 1RN

    Tel: 0121 329 6800 or +44 (0)121 329 6800 from overseas
    Or at www.sra.org.uk

  • Change of name

Where a candidate’s name changes at any stage between registering with Kaplan QLTS and attending an assessment the candidate must bring supporting documents to the assessment itself to explain the change in name. Any candidate who is in doubt about which documents are required should discuss this with a member of the QLTS administration team before the day of the assessment.

Candidates who have not previously sat any QLTS assessment

Candidates must register with Kaplan QLTS before they can book an OSCE assessment in order to obtain a candidate number. After submitting a registration form, a candidate will be contacted by the QLTS administration team confirming that their registration is complete and issuing them with a candidate number. This should be within 5-10 working days. Once they have this confirmation, candidates can begin the process of booking an OSCE assessment by submitting the booking request form.

Any queries should be raised with our administration team on 0203 040 4900.

Following submission of the booking request form

After submitting a booking request form, a candidate will be contacted within 5-10 working days by the QLTS administration team, so that payment can be made and the OSCE booking finalised. The booking is not concluded and the place on the OSCE assessment is not secured until payment in full has been received. Payment can be made by debit or credit card over the telephone, or by cheque (made payable to Kaplan Financial QLTS) or by bank transfer.

After booking a place on the OSCE

Once candidates have booked into an OSCE assessment they receive an email from Kaplan QLTS confirming reservation of their place on the assessment.

An email confirming the booking, the assessment dates and the location of the assessment centre is sent out at the booking deadline.

Approximately 2 weeks prior to the assessment, Joining Instructions are sent out by email. These confirm the date of the assessment, the address at which the assessment is to be held and the time at which the candidate is to report to the assessment centre. The Joining Instructions also provide details of the identification documentation the candidate will be required to produce.

Please see OSCE ID and Security.

For information relating to re-arrangement or cancellation of OSCE bookings and for candidates who are unable to attend any assessment see our Terms and Conditions.

Any queries should be raised with our administration team on 0203 040 4900.
